One of the more creatively named waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park is Undine Falls. Pronounced un deen this waterfall was named for the wise female water spirits found in German mythology. Legend has it that these lady nymphs lived around forest pools and waterfalls. They lack a soul and in order to attain one they must marry a mortal man. Framed by evergreens one would think if there are watery sprites in Yellowstone then Undine Falls would be the place to find them.
Undine Falls is a nice roadside attraction between Mammoth Hot Springs and Tower Roosevelt. A pretty three-step waterfall that drops 60 feet as flows along Lava Creek. It is one of the easiest waterfalls to see in Yellowstone. Just a few short steps down from the parking lot to a nice size overlook area is all that it takes to get there.
