Kansas Children’s Discovery Center

Air contraptionWhat a fantastic place, the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.  This Children’s Museum located in Topeka, Kansas was a joy for my two kids.  The three-year-old has talked about it several times since our visit.  Also the one-year-old had so much fun in their Little Sprouts area.  Karen and I were really impressed with the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.  Art work
Much bigger than it looks, The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center boasts over 15,000 square feet of interactive fun and over 4 acres of outdoor space.  A great place to play and burn off some of that energy.  The kiddos definitely slept well that night.  At 8 bucks a person it can be a little expensive for large families but compared to other Children’s museums the price is relatively cheap.  However, since we were on vacation visiting the grandparents who love to spoil their grandbabies it was a free trip for us.  The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center was great.  If we lived in the area, we would already have a membership card in our wallet.

The indoor area has 9 different themed sections.  Lots of hands on things to do, build, and discover.  My oldest loved the Art Gallery.  Painting on the glass window gave her the biggest smile.  If she would have had it her way she would have been a little artist all day.  Another one of her favorites was the Build Gallery.  She had a great time building an animal out of various building materials.  Like I mentioned above the youngest loved their Little Sprouts area.  The padded floors, texture stimulation toys, and climbing apparatus gave her a great little place to stretch out and learn.  On our particular trip it was a little rainy so most of our time was spent indoors.  However, towards the end, the rain stopped and we took a quick tour of what they had to offer.  It seemed like it too would be a blast.  There was an obstacle course, an enormous tree house, and bike and trike path.
big smilesThe Kansas Children’s Discovery Center was a lot of fun.  The kids really loved it and that is all we are looking for in a children’s museum.  We walked away really impressed.  Topeka really has something going with their Children’s Discovery Center.  I am sure it will be a new staple to our time visiting the family.      For our reviews of other Kansas attractions, click here On the move
