Happy New Year

rp_23801938930_d15a59a354_z.jpg

Make resolutions or maybe not. Look forward to the big events of the upcoming year. See good friends, spend time with family, give thanks to The Lord for His blessings. New Years is a great time to reflect on all the events of the past and a time of new beginnings to look forward to …

Grand Mesa Scenic Byway

rp_23742233640_7480779d01_z.jpg

Loved… just loved our time driving on the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway.  My humble words could not do justice to this playground in the sky.  Grand Mesa is the largest, flat-topped mountain in the world, and the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway gave us a great preview to what the land offered.  After the drive I realized I …

Merry Christmas

rp_23469407304_8736da0cca_z.jpg

Karen and I just wanted to take the time to wish everybody a Merry Christmas.  Hope your season was bright and merry.  We had a very festive one at our house.  We ran the gamut of emotions this holiday season.  McKenna our 3-year-old had a breakdown because we ran out of holiday decorations to put …

McKayla’s Cake Smash

How is it possible that our second tiny baby is already a whole year old!?!  We are so in love with our sweet spunky little McKayla girl (well, both our girls actually).  She is a charmer and always quick to have a toothy little grin on her face.  It is fun to watch her explore …

Mesa Verde National Park

rp_23819181845_3220734b1c_z.jpg

Mesa Verde National Park is a fascinating window into pre-Columbian civilization.  A World Heritage Site, Mesa Verde National Park protects over 5,000 archeological areas.   This also includes 600 cliff dwellings the main reason that we visited the park.  The cliff dwellings were amazing to see.  For the life of me, no mechanized tools and still …

Mass Ascension: ABQ Balloon Festival

rp_23153392264_9d4e518ec6_z.jpg

The Mass Ascension was sight to behold.  We imagined it was going to be something special, but even our wildest imagination fell far short. Hundreds of bright colorful balloons drifting away.  It was like poetry in motion.  We love to travel around and not see the same place over again but right after we saw …

Children’s Nature Center

rp_23650585892_04e3e92f40_z.jpg

It was slim pickings for animal attractions as were traveling through Western Colorado.  Luckily for us the Children’s Nature Center in Fruita was there.  Our 3 year old can’t get enough when it comes to animals.  Small…big… it does not matter she loves it.  So when she overhead Karen and I talking about the possibility …

Rifle Falls State Park

rp_23663405146_75c7fc27db_z.jpg

Rifle Falls State Park is a small but visually stunning state park in Colorado.  Located in the Northwest part of the state, Rifle Falls State Park is the only 80-foot triple waterfall in Colorado.  It is a stunning waterfall, but what amazed us was everything else we got to see there. It ended up being a …

Land of Lakes Trail: Grand Mesa

rp_22995465534_98fa7452a0_z.jpg

Land of Lakes Trail, more like incredible view trail.  This easy half mile trail, mostly paved, is arguably the easiest trail to an outstanding view that I have ever been on.  Most hikes make a person work for its beauty.  Not this one.  Just a short incline trek up and then I had an extended …

A Sweet Tradition Continues…

rp_23491074642_72d6ee02f9_z.jpg

Ever since the early days of mine and Kenny’s vacations, along the trip we would stop by at least one ice cream shop.  Preferably a small town, obscure little shop rather than some big chain store.  Although in a pinch Cold Stone Creamery can’t be beat.  As the years have flown by and we are …
