Top 10 Scenic Drives in the United States

A scenic drive is one of my favorite summer vacation traditions.  What better than taking one of the Top 10 Scenic Drives in the United States and loading up the family car and seeing an America’s byways and highways is great family bonding experience?  If your family is anything like mine usually a typical road trip will have its trials and tribulations but usually the highs outnumber the lows.      With thousands of miles of roads that crisscross the states there are scenic drives all around us but a few stand out above the crowd.  Now beauty is in the eye of the beholder and one person’s desert drive might be the boringness thing in the world to one but a favorite drive to another.   We have compiled our list of the Top 10 Scenic Drives in the United States.

10. Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Mts

Blue Ridge Parkway is a fall foliage hunter’s paradise.  469 miles of windy mountain roads that run through Virginia and North Carolina.  Wildlife viewing, waterfall hunting, and good hiking can be found throughout the parkway.  For more information visit http://www.nps.gov/blri/index.htm

9. Going to the Sun Road, Montana

8. Seward Highway, Alaska

The Seward Highway connects the towns of Seward and Anchorage along its 125 mile route.  It runs through the beautiful Kenai Peninsula and offers views of the wildest land left in the United States. 7. U.S. 1, Florida Keys

6. Trail Ridge Road, Colorado

5. Columbia River Highway, Oregon

4. Hana Highway, Maui

3. Byway 12, Utah

Utah should name their Scenic Byway 12 the Parkway because it sits in between Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon National Parks and goes by three state parks.  Byway 12 runs through a beautiful stretch of southwestern mountain landscape.  For more information visit http://www.scenicbyway12.com/

2. Pacific Coast Highway

The Beartooth Highway has been called Americans most beautiful drive and having driven it I would have to agree.  This National Scenic Byway runs for 68 miles as it winds its way through beautiful mountain tops on its way to one of Americans greatest national parks Yellowstone.  For more information visit http://beartoothhighway.com/
