Frustrations in Blogging: White Screen of Death

Well those that have been following our website Plainadventure for a while might have noticed that we have been slowing down on the number of posts per week.  While it has become harder to find the time with an almost 2 year old running around the house, the real culprit has been the non-stop coaching schedule of basketball and lately soccer.  So we have been plugging away chronicling our adventures when we could then last week we hit a brick wall.

One day our website was working fine then the next day we could not do anything because we got a blank white screen.  Now we never had this problem before and after a quick Google search we realized that this situation happens to a lot of people that use WordPress to run their sites.  In fact, it has its own name the “White Screen of Death.”

We had family coming into town so we did not get to the root of the problem for a few days and then we tried to tackle the issue it was one failure after another.  We tried several different Youtube videos and different forums on how to fix the problem but nothing worked.  Karen finally made the suggestion to try our website host IT service.  One email to them later and we are up and running.  Hopefully we can go another 2 and half years before we face the White Screen of Death again.  Oh… in case you ever face the White Screen of Death yourself try deactivating all of your plugins if that does not work it might be your PHP memory which ended up being our problem.
