Pinterest Project: Bathtub Paint

In an effort to continue our weekly tryouts of Pinterest projects we found a really fun idea for bathtub paint.  At first I was really apprehensive to try it because it involved food coloring and I was just sure it would stain our tub or our baby.

Well, we forged ahead and mixed up three little bowls full of ‘paint’.  One red, one blue and of course one yellow (M LOVES yellow!).  The recipe was super easy, just baby shampoo, cornstarch and food coloring, all things that I already had on hand.  We added a little shaving cream to make it a little bit thicker and easier to use for M.

I tried to get things a little prepped before we got M in the tub and that helped a lot.  I moved our white rugs out of the area and replaced them with old towels, I got the paint brushes out and made some space on the countertop to put the three little bowls when we were done painting.

It also helped to have both Kenny and myself in the bathroom.  This us how we usually give M baths anyway but if yours are solo missions it might be a good idea to have an extra set of hands.

We put M in the tub and she had a hay day painting those colors all over the bathtub!  She was asking for more and telling us which color she would like to use.  She painted shapes and even mixed the colors together to create new original colors.

It was so much fun seeing her be creative and enjoy the little paints we mixed up for her.  She has asked for them at two more baths since we first did this project so I would say that is a total success.  And cleanup was super easy, no staining at all.
