My one word New Year’s Resolution

Karen here weighing in on my New Year’s Resolution.  I have heard a lot of people talking about having a ‘word of the year’ rather than making a lot of un-keepable resolutions.  I took a little time a few days ago writing out my thoughts and where I am in my life and it all boiled down to one word… Thrive.

I sometimes feel like I’m barely hanging on, just struggling along trying to survive.  I want my life to be so much more than that.  I want to thrive!

It feels so selfish and silly to say that I’m struggling when really in the grand scheme of things I have a wonderful cushy life that so many people would desperately want.  I realize that and I am so very grateful for the blessing that I do have but that’s not to say that I don’t have my own personal struggles.  I want to be a great Mom, a great wife, an excellent Christian, a super housekeeper, a wonderful daughter and Aunt and Sister and Friend and sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

So, I’m trying to refocus, simplify, get healthy and make this year one of my very best, in other words thrive.

I was excited when I looked up the definition of thrive and it said; to make steady progress, prosper.  That leads me to believe that it isn’t an instant transformation but a series of baby steps and I definitely have some first hand knowledge when it comes to baby steps.

So let 2014 be the year of Thriving and I can’t wait to look back on this in January 2015 and smile.
