Photography Tip: Anytime is the Right Time for a Photo Op

Photography Tip: Anytime is the Right Time for a Photo Op

M in the gardenI do not know where you are from, but for us the weather the last couple of days has been as close to perfect as you can get.  70 degree days and 50 degree nights are hard to beat so my wife and I decided to take our little girl “M” to the zoo and take advantage of the wonderful weather.  Our sweet girl loved her visit to the zoo and at 15 months old she now takes a lot more interest in the animals and her surroundings than ever before.WalkingSo there we are at the end of our zoo visit getting close to lunch time and thinking that we should be going, but we wanted to get some pictures of our daughter.  We knew that we would not have a lot of time for a photo shoot but knew that anytime can be the right time for photo opportunities.  Karen and I decided to go over to their butterfly garden and take some pictures of M.  We picked that location because she loves flowers, but has a hard time standing or sitting still to take a picture.  My wife and I figured that the flowers would distract her long enough that she would be still so we could get some good shots and be on our way home.  Other than the fact we did not have a light reflector to get the halo effect with the sun at her back we felt the pictures turned out great.  Of course any parent is going to say that about pictures of their child.Momma and MSo anytime can be the right time for a photo opp even if you do not have a lot of time to spare.  If time is an issue like when taking pictures of your young children make sure you are familiar with your camera settings that way you are spending more time taking pictures and not messing with the buttons.  Another helpful thing to remember is that it does not have to perfect each time, years from now a candid shot will probably be a lot more memorable to you than one that is staged. Remember keep shooting because the odds will eventually be in your favor.By the Fence Post
