Oxbow Bend: Scenic Wonder

OxbowOxbow Bend is just one of the many famous scenic spots that can be found in Grand Teton National Park.  If you get there before first light you will be in for a treat, if you do not believe me just Google images Oxbow Bend and see for yourself.

Besides the postcard worthy pictures of Mount Moran reflected on the water this is a great spot to see wildlife especially during dawn and dusk. Moose is the big game ticket to see, but also a variety of birds frequent the area as well as elk and deer.  We have never vacationed in the park and have always stayed at one of the gateway towns so we have not made the dawn visit, but have seen a variety of wildlife during dusk.Oxbow bendOxbow Bend is a great stop along Highway 89 just east of the northern entrance of the Teton Park Road.  If you want to get the best photographs you can, get there as early as possible for clearer skies and calmer conditions.  I would like to say that I got up at 4 in the morning to make it at first light and get in line with the rest of the “real” photographers, but alas it was not meant to be.  The earliest that I have gotten there was sometime between 8 and 9 in the morning.  It was still beautiful and one of those places where you get out of your vehicle and just stand there and try to soak it all in.

Those mountains are so pretty and that water is so smothe. It looks like a mirror. The boat would really zing across that water.
