Flora Photography Number 1: Tulips

TulipsThis photograph of tulips was taken at the Saint Louis Botanical Garden during an extended weekend trip that we took there.  Over the last couple of months I have just moved from the camera’s computer making most of the decisions for me to now shooting everything in manual.  It still is frustrating at times especially when I forget to change the settings when I change environments like moving from a shaded spot to one that is in the sun, but I would never go back to my camera making my decisions for me.

This picture really stands out to me because the white tulips look like they belong in the photograph, but the red ones seemed to be painted in.  It was a sunny beautiful day and being able to capture this bright shot of the amazing tulips was just the icing on the cake.

If you are ever looking for a good place to practice some photography you can’t go wrong with a garden.  The colors are vibrant and the subject is perfectly happy to sit still while you take shot after shot.
