What Makes Our Marriage Work: loose lips sink ships

One great piece of advice I heard just before I got married was ‘never talk bad about your husband to anyone ever’. I have really tried to take this to heart and even if Kenny is doing something particularly irritating I try not to go blabbing to my Mom, best friend, neighbor or facebook about his offense. Usually if I let a little time pass the thing that felt so huge and agitating comes into perspective and I realize it wasn’t really a big deal after all.

It seems like a lot of women get caught up in ‘husband-bashing’ especially when they all get together. Almost a one-ups-man-ship sort of competition. Can you imagine how hurt and betrayed you would feel if your husband was talking bad about you to his guy friends all the time? It would break my heart.

Our husbands are our soul mates, our other half and while we love them with all our hearts and can move past the irritating habit they possess in just a few minutes, our sister or best friend may remember that little tidbit you shared with them FOREVER.

Of course we are all human, none of us are perfect and we all have things about us that irritate others, but if you can talk those thing through within the bounds of your own relationship it will really help you keep your marriage sacred.

Proverbs 31:10-12
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

Karen, remember in about middle school, when I advised you girls not to dis your sisters to your friends. This sometimes happens when siblings are mad in the moment, but friends form opinions about your siblings from what you tell them. So, if all you tell them is the bad then they will never know the good. Friends come and go, sisters are there for a long long time. You’ll did a good job of passing along the good because a lot of your friends are friends of your sisters also even though there is a age difference. I love it…… and you.
