Sunday Scripture: Colossians 3:15-17

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”Basement-Board-03This week’s Sunday scripture verse comes from Colossians 3:15-17, which to us basically sums up what our focus for the upcoming week should be, which is being thankful for all of our blessings.  Yes some of us are more blessed than others, but each one of us has something to be thankful for this holiday week.  This point that we all have something to be thankful was hit home to me more than over a few weeks back when I has having lunch with some old friends.

One of the guys that were there had just come back from a mission’s trip to Haiti.  He told us that during the trip they came across several terrible things including the fact that they had to watch the kids at the orphanages eat the food they brought because if anything was left people would come in and take it from them.   However, that was not the most important thing that I learned from that conversation, what really stuck in my mind was when he came across a group praying they were thanking God that they had arms and legs. Now, I have prayed a lot, not as much as I should, but I cannot recall a time that I have ever thanked God for my arms and legs.  So, this Thanksgiving holiday take a little time and find something to be thankful for no matter how rough it is for you there is always something going on in your life to be thankful for.
