Top 10 Scary Movies

With Halloween right around the corner now might be the right time to get your fright on.  Every now and then it is fun to feel a little scared so what better way is there than to watch some really scary movies.  Here is our list of top 10 scary movies.  These movies will be sure to make you jump, curl up close to a loved one, and have you grabbing a blanket to cover your eyes.

10. Poltergeist (1982)

9. Halloween (1978)

HalloweenThe slasher film that started them all.  Halloween is about Michael Myers a psychopathic killer that got his lust for blood at a very young age when he killed his older sister.  Myers was then placed in mental hospital for many years until his escape on Halloween to quench his lust for blood.

8. Let the Right One In (2008)

Let the Right One In Movie PosterProbably the best vampire movie in the last 15 years (sorry Twilight fans)  Let the Right One In is about a young boy named Osker who is bullied by his classmates.  Osker then meets up with his new neighbor a 12 year old girl named Eli.  At the same time as their arrival several disappearances and murders take place in the town.  Does Osker have a new friend or a terrible enemy?

7. Alien (1979)

Alien PosterAlien the Jaws of outer space when a group of men and women find themselves waken from hibernation by a distress signal from a foreign ship.  When they go to investigate a member of their crew is attacked by small alien that attaches to his face.  The alien detaches itself and the crew member seems to recover until an alien being erupts from his stomach where upon it begins to stalk the crew killing them one at a time.

6. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

Rosemary's Baby PosterA newly married couple moves into an old strange apartment with eccentric tenants.  As the neighbors welcome the new couple in one of them gives them a welcoming gift.  After eating the gift the wife has a terrible dream where she is raped by a beast.  Not long after the young wife becomes pregnant and after giving birth comes to the realization that her child might not be the bundle of joy that she imagined.

5. The Omen (1976)

The OmenA U.S. diplomat in Rome has a wife that is pregnant and has a stillbirth.  The diplomat decides to substitute the baby for another unfortunately that baby is the spawn of Satan.  Things get much worse when that child turns five and people around it start to die.

4. The Shining (1980)

The Shining - Movie PosterThe Shining is a journey into madness when a struggling writer takes a job overlooking a mountainous hotel during winter.  As winter closes in on the resort the writer and his family become more isolated from the outside and world and hotel starts to take a new life of its own.

3. Jaws (1975)

Jaws the movie that made countless number of people scared to get into the water.  Amity Island a summer town is held captive by an extremely large shark that has gone rogue and anything and everything that gets in the water is fair game.

2. The Exorcist (1973)

The ExorcistA movie based on the last known Catholic-sanctioned exorcism in the United States.  A young girl starts to behave out of character when her mother calls in the priests to rid her of her demonic possession.

1.       Psycho (1960)

PsychoA young woman who is trusted by her boss with a large sum of money to be deposited at the bank on her way there she decides to take off with it.  She drives as far and fast as she can until exhaustion takes over so she decides to stop for the night at an out of the place hotel.  The innkeeper seems a bit strange but she stays anyway.  What happens next is arguably one of the most famous scenes in cinematic history.
