Sunday Scripture – Ephesians 4:2 (take two)

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love

Hmmm, this verse may look a little familiar.  That is because it is the exact same verse we used last week.  I have to confess I was neither gentle nor patient this past week.  Kenny and I both had a lot going on with our jobs and trying to balance that with spending lots of time with M, Kenny had cross country meets and parent teacher conferences and I was helping my sisters prepare for a fun baby shower this weekend.  Kenny and I were both feeling like our plates were pretty full.  Unfortunately I don’t seem to deal with stress very well.  Rather than remembering this verse and being gentle and patient I had a few moments where I was snappy and probably not the most fun person to be around.

So in light of all of that craziness Kenny and I decided we should refocus and just try this verse one more time.  I wrote it up on my pretty chalk board and we are going to try to help each other be accountable.  It is kind of scary to pray for patience because I think God then gives you opportunities to practice your patience (eek), but that is something at which I would like to be better.  I think Kenny and I both do pretty well about being patient and gentle with M, but with ourselves and each other we seem to have a little bit shorter fuse when we get really stressed.

We are going to give it another go and we’ll let you know how it turns out next week.  Thanks for being patient with us.
