8 week photo
M is just growing and changing every day she is getting stronger and holds her head up like a big girl. We don’t let her do it very long because we don’t want to strain her little neck, but she does her tummy time and turns her head back and forth from side to side and when we hold her up against our shoulder she lifts her head up to see the world. It is just too exciting to miss.
This week brought about more new things because Kenny had to go back to work. He has been attending meetings and getting his classroom ready for the new school year. Luckily he is still able to come home for lunch so M and I don’t have to go to long without Daddy. It has been different being all on my own but we are getting the hang of things.
Highlight of the week:
Karen- Kenny getting to spend a few more days home with us!!
Kenny- When my school start date got postponed due to some remodeling and I got a few more days to spend at home with my girls.
Product we’re loving:
Karen- We are trying to decide if we want to buy a full baby bathtub. It seems like she would only use it for such a short amount of time and it would take up a lot of space. So far we have been using the kitchen sink and I basically hold her while Kenny soaps her up and we rinse her under the running water. This week we filled the sink with water and used her little bath sponge to cushion things. She LOVED it! It made all the difference to be down in the water.
Kenny- We have been having fun using her boppy pillow to prop her up a little bit. She seems to enjoy being inclined up a little rather than flat on her blanket when we play. This way she can see more of her environment than just the ceiling fan.
Karen- I’m trying to get a sort of routine to our day. Nothing too strict or scheduled, I realize she is still a little baby, but it would be nice for both of us to kind of be able to predict what will happen day to day. It’s going pretty good so far, we have our play time and nursing time, nap time, tummy time, lather… rinse… repeat.
Kenny- Wow! It is just so very hot where we are. We like to take her outside and around for walks but when the temperatures are in the 100′s and we are under heat advisory it’s a no go. We will be glad when it cools off a little.
Karen- I’ve learned that it is okay to set her down sometimes. I was feeling like I could never get anything done like loading the dishwasher or checking on the laundry or even brushing my teeth! But finally this week I’ve come to realize that she can play on her own on her blanket or in her little rockie and it isn’t the end of the world. I’m sure the older she gets the longer she will be able to entertain herself.
Kenny- I knew I was going to miss her, but I didn’t fully realize just how much I would miss spending time with her while I was at work.
Quote of the week:
Kenny: (petting M’s soft arms) she is so strong, look at her little triceps
Karen: (while nursing M) Ouch! Her little pterodactyl toes are scratching my side. (I guess it’s time for a baby pedicure)
It has been a great eighth week and we are looking forward to many, many more!
