Karen and I decided to use our third spare bedroom as the nursery. The wall color was already a robins’ egg blue so we choose a similar shade called swimming by Sherman Williams as the nursery color. The crib bedding was really the center piece of the nursery. It took a while for Karen to find a pattern that she wanted. She went to several of the chain stores around town, but all the patterns seemed too busy or cartoonish. Eventually after scouring the internet she found what she wanted. The site that she found the bedding from was www.polkatotdesign.com, and even then it was not that easy. We ended up ordering two samples and fell in love with a pattern called Liliana.
Once we had the bedding picked out it was easier to pick the other items that would go in her nursery. Karen and her mom went fabric shopping to pick out the fabric for the curtains and for the back of china cabinet that is to hold M’s toys. The fabric for the curtains is white with a subtle dot pattern which she added a pink pom-pom trim to. They also lined the back of the cabinet with a light lime green fabric to cover up the mirror that is there.
The crib was a gift from our sister and bother in law, and the mattress was a gift from my uncle’s family. We are blessed to have such a caring generous family. My grandma also got us the nursery chair that is from a company called Little Castle which Karen just loves. Several other things from books to stuffed animals came from other family and friends. All of their gifts help make M’s room complete.
Her changing table used to be our dresser. We just changed out the hardware to make it more modern, and put a changing pad on top. It has worked out great plus the only cost was updating the drawer pulls.
To decorate the nursery we added a vinyl wall cling that says, “Grow wise little owl.” We ended up getting this one because it fit our animal theme, and we want her to grow up to be smart like her mommy. The vinyl cling was easy to apply using the directions that came with it.
We also added three book shelves that I made which you can read about by clicking here. Karen and I also added several photos and sayings to the well above her changing table to add some fun to the room. Some of the items in the frames are pictures of animals that I have taken, a family photo, and invitation to Karen’s baby shower.
Karen found these Bible verse flash cards on pinterest and just had to have them. There is a verse for each letter of the alphabet and we change the letter every day. It is nice that the color scheme matches our nursery too.
We hung these cute paper lanterns above M’s crib. They are fun and colorful for her to look at when she is in bed. Karen’s Mom and sister made them for her baby shower and they are super cute. We plan to add a few pink ones when we get as chance.
Finally the last piece to go in her nursery was her coming home outfit which we set in a wooden frame near her closet. We couldn’t be more happy with the end result and we hope M loves it just as much.

I’m stopping by from Kelly’s Korner to check out your window treatments.
I recently changed our master bedroom curtains from tab light blue curtains to chocolate brown blackout. What a positive difference they made.
I still want to purchase something for our patio doors. Maybe I’ll get some ideas from my tour!
Great choices on your curtains. They’re adorable. And I love the wall decal. What a nice way to add personality to a room.
