Karen’s Review

I was a little apprehensive going into this movie.  I have always heard about what a great movie Monty Python is from BOYS.  I have never heard a girl ranting and raving about it’s hilarity.  So, needless to say I was a little skeptical.  It actually turned out to have several redeeming scenes.

I can’t say it is one I will put on my ‘watch often’ list, but it was fun to see once and finally understand some of my friends’ movie quotes and subsequent laughter.

The comedy styling’s of the British group Monty Python is intended to have a specific quality to it and for someone who enjoys that sort of dry, slapstick comedy, this could be your dream movie.  I think I could pick and choose a few favorite scenes and forgo the rest.  I give this movie two out of five shells.

Kenny’s Review

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a hilarious movie that showcases that witty and somewhat dry humor of Britain.  It is a cult/comedy classic created by Monty Python which some would argue is one of the funniest comedy troupes of all time.  Their mixture of sight gags, silly songs, slapstick comedy combined with European stereotypes has made countless people laugh over the decades.  Unfortunately for me, I can only take so much of it and by the end of the movie I wanted it to be over.

The sketches were funny, and some of them down right hilarious, but it was just too much for me.  It is kind of like a Saturday Night Live sketch that by itself in a five minute dose is great, but when they try to make a movie out of it, the movie just falls flat.  I am not saying the whole movie falls flat, but personally I would rather loop up the sketches I like on youtube than sit through and watch this movie over again.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is funny and most people that I know who have seen it would go as far as to say it is a classic.  I cannot agree with them because to me it drags on.  For its lines that will be quoted on forever and hilarious nature of their sketches I would give the movie 4 shells, but since the movie feels like it drags on especially towards the end I can only give the it 2 out of 5 shells.
