Number 2: Road to The Tetons

Road to The TetonsNumber 2 is a photograph of a park road leading up to the Grand Tetons.  All of this vacation it had been cloudy (well most of the time anyway, sometimes I can get carried away with my pessimism at least that is what Karen tells me).  For some unknown reason, unless we are going to the beach, almost every vacation Karen and I have been on since we have been married has been cloudy.

The first couple of places we stopped to get a photo the clouds were not cooperating and Karen and I were already tired from driving all day long so we decided to head to our hotel and get some rest.  Luckily for me I asked Karen if she would mind if we would took one more loop around the park, and Karen being the sweetie she is said it would be ok.  So Karen and I started to drive back around and just towards the end of the drive we finally got a break in the clouds.  Nobody was on the road behind us or coming towards us so I pulled over to the side of the road so I could finally get a picture of the Tetons without a solid white background of clouds.  After taking a couple of photos I put the camera about waist high to get a little different angle on the shot and snapped this picture.

I really like how the road draws your line of sight right up to the majestic peaks of the Tetons and how there was just enough light breaking through to give the clouds a dramatic look.  Almost all of my photography is point and shoot, and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time to get this shot.  Maybe in a couple years and I will do another top 25 list.  I might have some photos with a bit more skill involved in the process.

Great picture. The Tetons are my favorite mountain range and my wife gets tired of me talking about them and wanting go back, I think 🙂 Not much better than being on the open road in western Wyoming, eh?

Thanks- I agree there is not a whole lot that can beat a road trip out west- though a trip to Hawaii or the Caribbean is mighty close-
